Making money on a travel blog and why affiliate programs don’t work. Travel blogging: how a new trend helps you make money from travel How to promote a travel blog

I am often asked about how to create a successful travel website on social networks and personal correspondence. To answer most of your questions about creating a website or blog on a tourism theme, I decided to write this post.

If you are interested in this topic (the topic of website building is not the main one on this blog), and you would like to receive a detailed action plan on how to create a travel blog from scratch, then let me know in the comments to this post. Indicate there what exactly you are interested in and I will describe your action plan in detail in the following posts.

In this post, I will share all my experience about creating a travel blog, talk about failures and wasting time on this or that functionality, which I thought was simply necessary for my blog.

After each section my opinion will be indicated; it may not coincide with yours, but you can express yours in the comments to the post.

To be honest, creating a travel website is a very troublesome and painstaking task, so be patient and the result will not take long to arrive, otherwise there is no point in starting.

If you came here looking for a solution to the problems of your ever-failing hosting, then this is the place for you. This problem is discussed in detail later in the post.

Why create a travel website or start a travel blog?

Why create another travel resource or write posts on another travel blog, of which there are millions on the Internet? This is the very first question that every novice blogger or website builder should answer.

There are several strategies for website development and they all have the right to life:

Create an information portal, blog or forum- this is a rather labor-intensive and financially expensive task (a lot of time and money should be spent regularly), such a project has a very long implementation period. Initially, your resource will have little traffic, but if it contains really valuable information, then traffic will grow in proportion to the value of the material on the site. A good example is the Vinsky forum, once the forum was led only by Sergey Vinsky, over time the forum “grew up” with readers who turned into co-authors, but today such results are very difficult to achieve.

Create a website or blog for your soul- many beginning bloggers write a “blog for themselves”; over time, such a project either develops into a good information resource (see above) or dies. Thus, most “sites for the soul,” on the pages of which the author writes about his travels, as if keeping a personal diary, are an intermediate stage. The labor costs for a high-quality “blog for the soul” can be enormous, but the return is minimal. As a rule, authors spend a lot of effort on creating articles on tourism topics and do not spend any money on promotion.

Create a website to make money- the most common type of website, most of which do not last longer than one year (domain registration period), but if a website for making money is built correctly, then it can work for a long time and bring joy to its creator. Such resources place maximum emphasis on search engine promotion and attracting visitors. Very often, the authors of such a site about travel and tourism have never traveled anywhere themselves, and they either buy materials, rewrite articles from other resources, or steal them.

I think that everything is clear with the strategy for the future site, if not, then ask questions in the comments. If you have not yet decided which resource you should make, but want to talk about travel, then you can

Be sure to create a travel blog if:

  • you are interested in writing about travel - you have a lot to write about tourism and travel, sometimes even a lot;
  • you travel a lot and are ready to share your emotions with others - from each trip you bring not only magnets and souvenirs, if you are ready to tell your stories on the pages of the site, then be sure to create an information resource;
  • you can organize your time yourself - creating a website or blog is a fairly monotonous task, many people quickly get bored with this type of activity;
  • you are ready to work hard and be focused - be prepared that you will have a lot of work, no unemployment will threaten you, you will devote all your free time to your brainchild, unfortunately, or fortunately, but there is no other way.

Do not create a travel website if:

  • are not ready to work 14 hours a day - your resource will force you to work 14 hours a day, and sometimes more, you will not have holidays, weekends and sick leave;
  • you need a site to quickly make money on the Internet - the first year of operation, your site will bring a net loss (time, money, nerves, etc.), for quick financial enrichment there are more interesting business models;
  • you have no idea what to write about - before you make a blog, think about how it will differ from thousands of other resources on the Internet and why the reader should love it, you must have your own “trick”;
  • writing one article for a site takes more than a week - a travel site or travel blog lives on new posts, travel articles are the lifeblood of your resource, articles should be created easily and quickly, but at the same time they should be interesting;
  • are not ready to wait and listen to your reader - the first year of your blog’s life will be very boring (few visitors, almost no comments, etc.), this is the reason that is the death of most new travel blogs;
  • you are not interested in learning new things - you have created a website, now you have to learn a lot of new things, you simply must learn the basics of programming, and you simply must know the basic html tags by heart, the skill and understanding of what search engine promotion is will also be useful to you, etc.

Create a website that you are interested in running, don’t focus on making money. As a rule, if what you do brings you pleasure, then the money will come sooner or later.

Choosing a tourism niche for a website

Choosing the direction of website development is the most important thing where any conversation about creating a travel website should begin. Writing about things that are interesting to you is the easiest thing, and if it is also interesting to your readers, then you are a double winner.

From the very beginning, you should very carefully choose a niche for your resource and future articles on it, everything is very complicated here, but I will give some tips.

Choose topics and countries that are interesting to you and your readers - you should understand that there are countries that are interesting to write about, but they will not bring you money and vice versa.

Don't spread yourself thin - you can write about everything in the world, but it is extremely unproductive. For example, on my blog, most of the articles are about traveling around India, each article has a detailed description of the place/city/event/attraction - this is the “feature” of my resource.

Don’t delve too deeply into very specific travel niches - this may be an interesting activity for you, but the circle of readers of your blog will be too narrow. As an example, here is an article about blood sacrifices in India, I could write two hundred more articles about the history and origin of sacrifices in Ancient India, about rituals, about the places of sacrifices, etc., but such materials do not arouse interest among readers and make money on such articles it is impossible.

Write in simple, human language - be on the same wavelength with your reader and he will answer you with gratitude.

Don’t take niches that are too narrow, because after several years of working on your site, you simply won’t have any material left to fill it

How and where to look for topics for future blog posts

We are talking about beginners in blogging who do not yet have user feedback (feedback) in the form of comments and personal letters, so the only way to find new topics is through search engines and their services. I use Wordstat from Yandex, most of the blog post topics are found there.

Use Yandex Wordstat, it is free and at the initial stage it can suggest many topics for posts.

Selecting a format: travel website or traveler’s blog

You should choose what your future project should be at a very early stage; the choice of site engine and the general specifics of running the project will depend on this.

If we talk very briefly about the choice between a blog and a website, then:

A travel website should be more informative; on the pages of a travel resource it is difficult to imagine the author’s thoughts on detached, philosophical topics or a review of a new purchase on AliExpress. Thus, the site slightly limits the freedom of the author. This is just my opinion, there are a lot of things people write on websites on the Internet.

A blog about tourism may contain posts that are not entirely touristic, but you still shouldn’t deviate too much from the topic of tourism. If you decide to start a blog, then get ready to fight spam and trolling, since blogging involves active discussions in the comments.

You should hurry up when choosing a format, since after several years of working on the site, reformatting it may be impossible.

Choosing hosting for the site

The well-being of your website and your nervous system depend on proper hosting.

Important! In the modern world, competition is very high, and this is especially felt on the Internet. Your site must have a competitive advantage, otherwise the reader will go to another site, of which there are a huge number. One of those benefits has to be hosting! While your competitors are fighting with their “falling” sites and correspondence with tech. support, you are busy writing new posts or other important and useful things. Please read this section of the post very carefully.

This section of the post should be carefully read by bloggers who have problems with hosting. Often, a novice blogger is faced with the fact that his site begins to gain popularity and then suddenly a letter arrives from the hoster asking him to either switch to a more expensive tariff or stop using their services. Is this familiar?

The same thing happened to me, I tried many hosting companies, different tariffs and even thought about switching to a virtual server (VPS). Now this is all in the past and my site flies at a rate of 200 rubles per month, while using no more than 10% of the allocated resources. As it turned out, it’s all about hosting and its proper configuration.

Also, you should not fall for advertising in the style of: WordPress hosting, Joomla hosting, Drupal hosting, etc., as a rule, such statements are purely advertising. Any reliable hoster on its site should perfectly support the specified CMS; this is its job, not its merit.

The specified hosting already has the main blogging platforms and forum engines pre-installed, i.e. you don’t need to worry about installing scripts, everything is installed in two clicks. All this is completely free, try and test, especially for the first month of using hosting - you don’t need to pay (a whole month for testing hosting is provided free of charge).

After a free trial month, if you are satisfied with everything, it is more profitable to pay for a year in advance. So you will receive a renewal of your domain completely free of charge + about one month as a gift (depending on the chosen tariff). This is another competitive advantage, you pay less and get more.

Basic blogging engines (pre-installed and completely free):

  • WordPress;
  • Joomla;
  • Drupal.

Main forum engines (pre-installed and completely free):

  • phpBB;
  • Simple Machines Forum.

For a novice blogger, this is the best hosting; it meets all the requirements described below and even more.

For example, if your resource has become mega popular and the load has grown significantly, then you can use mechanisms and services for highly loaded sites (Memcached, Redis, Tarantool), they are turned on in a couple of clicks.

In the photo you can see the load on my blog, the average number of visitors per month is 100,000 unique hosts (approximately 250,000 page views), while the average hosting load is within 5% of the allowable limit, and the average database load is 3% of the allowable limit.

The site runs on the above mentioned hosting, at the cheapest tariff, but with an additional fee for the Memcached caching service (1 ruble per day, 30 rubles per month for 128 Megabytes of Memcached). Follow the link, on popular engines Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, Bitrix, Webasyst, etc.

If you properly configure site caching once, then for most travel blogs you can be content with inexpensive hosting, rather than paying for expensive VPS (personal virtual server with full access) administration. Of course, if your site will be visited by 100,000 people a day, then you should think about moving to a more productive VPS, but for those who are just starting to blog, the hosting I recommend is just right.

  • hosting should provide a free trial period to try out services and ease of use;
  • The hosting must have good technical support;
  • The hosting should be able to use a free SSL certificate;
  • Hosting should be convenient to use, even if you have never used hosting before;
  • hosting should be cheap and reliable;
  • The hosting must have pre-installed the main website engines Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc. so that they can be installed in two clicks;
  • The hosting should have clear load statistics.

Choosing an engine for the site

Today, any computer user can create a page on the Internet; for this there is no need to be a programmer or have any other technical specialty. There are all kinds of website builders on the service market (tilda, vix, nethouse, etc.), many of them are shareware. But their free nature exists only to lure clients and further earn money from them. At the most conservative estimate, a free website builder will cost you 5 times more than the above hosting for a regular website on Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal, etc. I recommend thinking ten times before creating your resource using a website builder.

In this part of the post I will tell you about the most popular Content Management Systems or (CMS), the systems described below are free (open source), anyone can make changes and make these products even better.

Joomla- an excellent multifunctional platform on which you can create any website, from a one-page site to a heavy online store. If you have not yet made a decision on whether you will have a website or a blog, then Joomla will allow you to make changes right on the fly, you just need to add one or another module. Anyone can understand Joomla; on the hosting I recommend, Joomla is installed in two clicks.

Wordpress- this is a blog engine, it is perfect for a travel blog; if you look at the most popular travel blogs, they are made on Wordpress. Wordpress has a huge set of modules, from the simplest (text formatting) to very complex solutions (scaling and load). A module has already been created for almost any need in Wordpress. Anyone can understand Wordpress; on the hosting I recommend, Wordpress can be installed in two clicks.

Drupal- a very powerful and flexible system; if you are making a serious travel portal, then Drupal is best suited. A Drupal site can be easily scaled and “tailored” specifically to your needs; in terms of flexibility, this system is comparable to a site developed on the framework (to put it roughly). Drupal is more difficult to learn, but if the task is to create a complex, multifunctional resource in a very short time, then Drupal is indispensable. On the hosting I recommend, Drupal is installed in two clicks.

Choose a content management system that is convenient for you and that you can quickly understand.

Choosing a template for the site

Choosing a template or choosing a design theme for a travel website is one of the headaches of every beginner, and not a beginner either. I once spent a lot of time choosing a template for my blog, sometimes I didn’t like the fonts, sometimes the colors, etc. As a result, over time, I remade everything for myself, thereby doing triple the work, and could have occupied myself with something useful.

My recommendation is to take absolutely any template; if necessary, you can always remake or change it. Today there are thousands of ready-made website templates, most of them are completely free. The only thing you should consider when choosing a theme for your website: a convenient, readable font and colors (font size no lower than 16px) and adaptive style (so that your blog can be read on all devices).

When creating a website, you don’t have to worry too much about choosing a template; you can always change it.

Promotion and promotion of a tourism website on the Internet

After you have created a page and uploaded it to your hosting, filled it with useful and interesting material, it’s time to tell the whole world that you have it. To be honest, promoting travel websites is not an easy task, but with perseverance it is quite achievable.

You will probably be surprised, but your site will not become popular just like that, even if you write better than Pushkin, and your photos are bought in the thousands on photo stocks. What to do and what to do? Everything is very simple, you need to tell about your resource and then you can count on success, but don’t let success relax you - this is just the beginning.

In this part of the article, I will briefly talk about various ways to promote websites on the Internet. I will give my assessment of their usefulness or uselessness, I do not pretend to be the ultimate truth, so add your methods of website promotion or comment on my methods.

Promoting a travel website on the Internet, working methods

  • regular writing of articles (works 100%) - content is king, there is nothing to add here;
  • constant improvement of the site (works) - make the resource convenient for the visitor and search engines will also love it, and not vice versa;
  • linking your old articles with each other (works) - links in your old posts will help increase the time the reader spends on the site;
  • using keywords in posts (works) - you shouldn’t write a keyword in every paragraph, but they should be present in the text;
  • cross-posting on free blogging platforms (works, but depends on the popularity of the blogging platform) - finding a working blogging platform with good readers is difficult, but possible;

I would like to describe the site-building process briefly, since to create the most complete picture, a separate site will be required due to its non-thematic nature. So, let's start with what we find out (if you don't already know), How does a blog differ from a website?

What is more suitable for making money: a blog or a website?

  • Blog is a kind of diary in which its author describes all his travels. Many travelers, and just bloggers, write articles that are not SEO-optimized for search engines. Blogs are most often visited by regular, subscribed readers.
  • Website– in my understanding, this is a collection of regular, SEO-optimized articles. The site has fewer subscribers than blogs, but more traffic from search engines. As a note, please note that this article of mine is optimized for search engines.

Conclusion. Since regular readers get used to advertising information over time, they stop paying attention to it, and some even turn it off after AdBlock. Visitors who come to your resource from search engines most often do not return, so it is they who provide the main income for a site or blog. It would be a good idea to run both a blog and a website on one resource at the same time. In one article, for example, about the adventures of, you can give recommendations to readers about “which fish markets are cheaper” And “how to choose quality fish in Thailand.” Naturally, if you want more clicks from search engines to this article, you will have to optimize it for SEO.

What's happened SEO search engine optimization of the site? This is the optimization of articles and site source code for search engines. Search engines love optimized websites and increase their ranking. Read more about all this on the Internet. =)

How to create a personal website or blog?

Let's look into the issue creating a personal website or travel blog And what you need to do:

  1. Motivation. A key aspect, without which the creation and promotion of a website, and therefore making money, is IMPOSSIBLE! The motivation can be anything, from the desire to please readers with a new article to the desire to please oneself with new earnings, something like this =) During website promotion, you may have periodic breakdowns, because of which the most important thing is not to give up website promotion! I already had two of them))) The site was abandoned for 3 months, because of which Yandex began to treat it noticeably worse.
  2. Choosing a hosting. If everything is in order with your motivation, we proceed to choosing a hosting on which your site will run. The main thing here is not to get caught by shit hosting. I use SpaceWeb.ru: I’m satisfied with the prices, stability, and quick help from the support team.
  3. Selecting a site engine. The engine is the basis of the site, its choice is a purely individual matter. I used it on one site DataLifeEngine (DLE), and at the moment my website is powered by an engine WordPress. Another equally popular engine is Drupal, Joomba And Ucoz. If you chose the latter, then you can skip point 2, since their engine and hosting are one whole. The only thing is that when working with any engine, you need to have at least basic web programming skills; if you don’t have them, you can ask for help on, but it would be cheaper to purchase a video course about, authored by the famous blogger Alexander Belyashov.
  4. Site content. It is recommended to write only unique articles of 2,000 characters or more. If you have nothing to write on your own, you can order them from copywriters on article exchanges such as Advego. Each article must be optimized for search engines, and it must be pleasant to read.

How to properly promote a website or blog?

Let's say you have already created a website, filled it with a sufficient number of articles, now let's move on to the question: how and where to promote a website or blog about travel? Website promotion is also a disaster that can destroy any motivation; the most important thing here is patience, because website promotion is a slow process. And so that promote a tourism website, It is advisable to buy eternal links to your website every month (no more than 10-15 per month) on such exchanges as:

  • GetGoodLinks.ru– this exchange is intended for website promotion for Google. By the way, in order to have transitions from both Google and Yandex, you will have to promote it a little differently. The bottom line is this: you send the webmaster a link to your site or article, he writes an article under this link and places it all on his website (this method of promotion is no longer relevant).
  • GoGetLinks.ru– this exchange is intended for website promotion for Yandex, and the exchange is similar to the first one. This search robot, unlike Google, suffers from slowness due to weak servers. Almost any webmaster will spit if he hears something about the Yandex search engine.
  • RotaPost.ru– a direct competitor of the GoGetLinks exchange.
  • MiraLinks.ru– the difference between this exchange and the others is the need to write a unique article yourself, or by ordering from a copywriter, so I don’t use it. And you don’t even need to contact other exchanges.

These are not the only methods of website promotion, these are just the ones I use. There are also free ones, but their effectiveness is not as high as that of paid ones, and it will take longer to sweat.

Search engines are slowly trying to get rid of link weight in the ranking, so buying links will soon become a thing of the past and webmasters will first have to take care of the behavioral factors on their site; the higher it is, the better the site in the eyes of search engines.

Behavioral factor (PF) of the site- in my personal opinion, this is the totality of the quality of the site (code optimization, web page loading, absence of duplicates, etc.) and site traffic (depth of page views and time spent on the site, number of returned users, correct filling of meta tags, writing SEO-optimized content, etc.). In fact, there are a lot of points; to be honest, until recently I thought that I knew enough about SEO, but every day more and more new things are opening up for me. Sometimes you have to edit the same material several times to get into the TOP 10.

Advice! First of all, aim at improving behavioral factors; relegate the purchase of links to the background, since without PF, they will be of little use. And remember, Yandex ICS (Site Quality Index is an improved indicator that replaced the outdated TIC) does not always affect site traffic!

How to make money from website traffic?

Let's figure it out Is it really possible to make money on travel websites or blogs? Really! And you can earn quite a bit. Moreover, you can earn, for example, $100 per month from 300 people per day, and the same money from 1,500 people per day. In general, you can earn up to 150 thousand rubles a month on a resource dedicated to travel. The only thing is that it is better to start making money on the site from the 6th month after its creation. And the first normal income will come only in a year or two. Now, let's move on to the question - How do websites make money?:

  • Google Adsense– an advertisement from Google that I recently placed on my website. Payment is made by clicks and in dollars, the more clicks, the more earnings. The advantage of this service is that it can be placed on unpromoted sites and, with proper advertising placement, significant earnings.
  • Yandex.Direct is a direct competitor to Adsense. The only restriction for the site is a minimum traffic of 500 people per day.
  • Partnership programs– You can get good income from affiliate programs of various resources. Read more in the article about.
  • Advertising directly– this is the placement of banners and link advertising on your website from the customer directly. It offers more profitable earnings, but there is a fly in the ointment; your site really needs to be worthwhile.
  • Other types of advertising and affiliate programs- there are more than enough of them on the Internet. The choice is yours, the only thing is don’t abuse it with advertising! Sites that suffer from aggressive advertising only scare away regular readers. Advertising should fit beautifully into the site design and should not be in excess.

Bottom line

This article, although it looks voluminous, is just a needle in a haystack. If you want to create and promote a website from scratch, and also make money from it, you will need to carefully delve into the vastness of the Internet. After all, for each point I described, in theory, it is necessary to write a separate article, or even two. Good luck!

Greetings to everyone who came to my blog! Today I propose to take a break from the attractions that we have been talking about lately and talk about more mundane things, but which concern almost all travel bloggers and authors of travel blogs: make money blogging about travel. How to make money on a travel blog, what types exist ways to monetize a blog?

Discussion: 98 comments

    I’m also thinking about tearing down the affiliate program widgets, they’re of no use, they just take up space. Google adsense is my everything, there is at least some income from there. You can also sometimes sell a link for a high price; it’s better to sell one for a high price than a whole bunch for pennies.
    Affiliate programs can benefit mainly those who write about one distant but popular country among tourists, for example, Thailand or Bali. Tickets there are expensive and the commission is substantial. In addition, a site about one country is in a better position than a site about many countries from the point of view of search engines.

    Answer

    1. At one time, my articles on China were in a separate blog (strictly speaking, it was with a blog about China that my autonomous blogging began). Affiliates did not work there at all, although the attendance at times reached 500 people. Only Adsense. And there are also successful examples of monetization of blogs dedicated to travel in different countries.
      Judging by the reviews on the Internet, many blogs about Thailand are well monetized (or is this already a thing of the past?). Maybe it's a matter of a certain subculture? That there has been a certain tradition of buying tickets to Thailand and generally getting information about it from the blogs of “winterers”, which are more complete and objective than rewritten articles on large travel portals.

    Very interesting, Maria! I know absolutely nothing about this, but you have laid it all out so neatly. Saved the article! I'm currently at my dacha in Wales, where there is no normal access to the Internet. I follow him across the strip to McDonald's :). I'll go back home and read it again more thoughtfully. Thank you!

    1. I think that over time this topic will affect you too. Because at first you blog out of inspiration, and then, looking at others, the seditious thought creeps in that this business can still generate income. By the way, I think that with the growth of traffic and the expansion of the circle of regular readers, you have many opportunities to monetize your blog.

      Answer

    I don’t focus on making money from blogging at all. To make money, you either have to be a super-duper popular blogger with tens of thousands of readers a day, or you have to pollute your blog so much with all sorts of affiliate posts that everyone will feel sick, including the author himself. Of course, I respect people’s desire to earn money, but when the blog turns into continuous reviews about low-cost airlines, sites for selling air tickets, booking accommodation, hotels, etc., I simply stop reading. It's just not interesting to me.

    I tried it with affiliates. I gave up. Hangs, annoying. And she received such pennies that it would not have been enough to travel around her hometown, let alone travel. Either I did something wrong, or there were the wrong partners, but I was disappointed - and for now I don’t want to experiment further. Although, maybe in vain? What if she is somewhere, my very successful partner?))

    I'm more attracted to the version of my brand. I'm a journalist. Magazines and publishing houses reach out to me through my blog, which perhaps would never have found me. So it’s possible to work remotely. And don’t look for a job, but she herself is looking for me. I have already written the first guidebook. I hope not the last.

    In general, first of all, you need to enjoy what you do. And then inspiration does not depend on affiliate programs. 🙂

    I think the times when we will travel without working will not come soon...

      1. Mash, what does anger have to do with it? All people are different. Some people love one thing, some another. For some, it’s enough to walk around the city center, look into a couple of museums and cafes - and that’s it! He is sure that he knows the city like his own fingers.

        There are only a few people like you and me who can return to the same place several times, climb around the surrounding area, look for little-known sights and delve into local history literature. 🙂

        Did I tell you how my editor, upon learning that I was going to Zheleznovodsk, said that there was nothing to do there, just drink some water? Well, since then we have visited Zheleznovodsk twice, explored a lot of the surrounding area - I wonder if I would come back again. But so far I haven’t had time to talk about what I saw.))

        I also agree that you need to develop your favorite topic. The best thing is what you know best. Well, who among the bloggers knows China better than you? Think for yourself!

        Moreover, now ties with China are developing with all their might, people travel there more often. The country is very interesting! But it has so many features - take at least those hieroglyphs at stops and in the subway. It's scary to go! 🙂 And here you are. And you’ll explain everything and put it into pieces. And people will already be prepared.

        And what’s also good about this topic: it’s not as hackneyed as travel to Thailand, Turkey, and even our Black Sea coast, which only the really lazy haven’t written about.

        And as for affiliate programs, I’ll be honest, not one of them brought me even a quarter of what Yandex.Direct provides. And even though people scold him and don’t like him, I stopped begging my husband for money for hosting (800 rubles per month, by the way), I pay for the Internet myself. Yes, there is no income, not enough for ice cream :) but after 4 years of hard work on the blog, at least it now pays for itself. Already good. Otherwise, for so many years everything has only been at a loss. I'm a bad businesswoman.

        Answer

        1. Anger, rather, at the fact that there is now a lot of absolutely unreliable information on the Internet. Even, for example, the guy who manages to see all the sights of Beijing in a week, what will he write? When I was browsing the sites, I read what they write about China - in most cases, my ears wither 🙁 Starting from a banal misinterpretation of the transcription (Chengdu instead of Chengdu, shen instead of sheng, etc.) and ending with the distortion of historical facts. And if we are talking about Chinese natural philosophy - the concepts of yin-yang, wu-xing (five primary elements), or the teachings of the “Book of Changes” (I-ching), then this is generally “put out the lights, extinguish the candles.” But guess, will my article, where I sorted everything out and cited quotes, be in the top? No, in the first place there will be all sorts of home-grown teachers f enshui.

          Therefore, yes, I will continue to write about China. Perhaps I once made the mistake of combining two blogs. But, on the other hand, it’s easier for me to promote this one blog than when the Chinese one was separate. And there are a lot of parallels, some crossover points. If I write about all my travels in this blog, how can I separate my trips to China from them? Or, for example, I have tags “castles and fortresses” or “monasteries and temples”. Of course, it’s interesting when the whole cross-section takes place—fortresses or temples of the West, Russia, the East. A complete picture is created that can be compared.

          YAN (Direct) is a good thing. But try installing Adsense as well. In general, I get more or less normal output from two blogs. Still, at Podmoskovye the attendance will be 2-2.5 times higher than here. And all sorts of gardening activities are monetized better than travel, although the cost per click is lower. And it’s also interesting: before I only had one Adsense (yeah, I read that it was more profitable). Then I installed another YAN. And income immediately increased by 1.5 times exactly. Yes, Adsense has sagged a little, but partly because in the Moscow region there is now only one block of it. By the way, YAN is currently more profitable on my blogs.

          Answer

          1. Everyone is now criticizing Adsense... Either the payments are exorbitantly small, or there are supposedly fines for cheating. I don’t know if it’s worth contacting him at all...

            My other blogs are not subject to monetization yet. And there’s no time to do them, to be honest. Even in Roads there is not enough time to write. Sometimes I even think about merging everything into one - into Graphomaniacs, everything will fit there according to the topic (especially since those two are in the AGS - and there is no time to pull them out either - this requires global work and cleaning), but it’s a pity. Let them wait in the wings for now.

                  1. Yes, Yandex advised me to experiment with the location of blocks. But I never started experimenting.

                    Answer

                    1. The blocks in my sidebar hardly work. Now I just put adsense there, but the exhaust is very small. The Adsense block in the middle of the post works well, although I don’t really like it visually. Perhaps you will have one of the YAN units working there.

                      Oh, well, that’s exactly what I wanted in the sidebar. It's good that you said that they work badly there.

                      Visually - yes, somehow not very good. Can't it be stretched to length? Change the configuration of the block itself? It looks very alien in the text.

                      I tried to put a long one, which is adaptive. But somehow strangely it works with my theme. In theory, it should adjust to the size of the monitor. But he doesn’t adapt. And on small screens it overlaps the sidebar. True, this doesn’t happen often, but still. Although you have to try - maybe it will be better.

                      Maybe write about this problem in Adsense? Let their developers work their magic... I think they will only be grateful for advice on improvement.

                      Yes, they usually don’t even bother with answers. Yandex is much more responsive in this regard. By the way, I have now changed the block to a long one, in the middle of the post. That's better?

                      Visually - better. But... They already have 6 links in one block?

                      I would give it 2-3, no more...

                      They have different ways. I now have three links showing, in another post there’s actually a banner. The truth about Forex 🙂 I’ll have to clean up the ads again. Lately there has been a lot of confusion in Adsense: like Kirkorov died, Putin’s new wife, a guy with a girl in everything... etc. Almost every day I block such ads, but they keep coming and going. And sometimes they lead to quite decent sites, which is the most interesting thing.

                2. As for the responsiveness of Yandex, I don’t know... You write to them about problems, about cases of content theft, about sites that are redirected to others (most often with porn) or where windows pop up and then do not allow you to close the page - and in response - silence.

                  But Google quickly reacts to such facts.

                  When your blog was stolen, did you write to Yandex and Google? Did you answer? Did you do something? And how quickly?

                  Answer

                  1. No, neither one nor the other answered. But I put pressure on the hoster, and they quickly removed it.

                    Answer

                    1. And here’s how... They didn’t even answer... But Google even has a function for complaining about copied content. Yandex does not.

                      Yes, I wrote there. Maybe they have everything automated? Or simply, the system is so hyped that they won’t deal with minor cases.

                      But is it really a minor incident when an entire blog is copied?!

                      I understand - one photo or a paragraph of text - you can close your eyes to this. But the whole blog! Fully!

                      For them - yes. My site is small. Be some New York Times...

                      🙂 No, it’s not so serious... The law applies equally to everyone - both small and big. 🙂

                      I think that their large sites are supervised by people. And the small ones are automatic. Well, sometimes, maybe a person will look. But these are my assumptions.

                      Sad…

    2. Answer

    Feedback mail is constantly flooded with offers for various affiliate programs. It’s surprising that there are so many of them, because almost no one works with them. On my blog for a very long time there has been a form for selling air tickets and insurance, which is primarily used by constantly traveling members of my family and friends, so it makes sense.

    A blog that starts writing articles like: “My selection of hotels” or “Review of low-cost airlines”, in my opinion, loses its authorial identity. Interesting material about your own experience of flying on all these low-cost airlines or staying in all these hotels, which allows you to make a worthwhile review - that’s another thing. But those who have such experience are few. Most people just write rewrites.

    Now some companies have begun inviting bloggers to test their products on trips and write reviews, which I think is interesting. It’s logical to add a widget for an online store to such a review. For travel blogs, this can be a very wide range of products - cameras, bags and suitcases, clothing and cosmetics, food, souvenirs.

    Answer

    1. Answer

      1. I would agree to write a good, excellent, lively article about our adventures with a tent, a boat or a good backpack that is really waterproof, doesn’t get dirty and all that. I would gladly take this thing as payment for a quality article that will be read by a lot of people.

        I would live in a hotel or sanatorium with children - 3-5 days would be enough for me to see everything everywhere and experience for myself what it’s like to live there. How good it is to relax there with children and how comfortable it is to go to the beach.

        But for some reason such proposals do not come. The other day I received an offer - write about our sanatorium for 400 rubles and put a link to our website! Is that okay? How to explain to people that even one bare link, without work, is worth more?

        And how can I write about a sanatorium where I have never been? I have a blog - only about my own impressions. Maybe it’s dirty there, the food is disgusting, but I can’t recommend it to people?!

        If they had invited me to live there, I would have written, maybe... And I wouldn’t have taken the money.)) I believe that you should pay decently for decent work. Even if it’s just some service or product, but don’t humiliate a person with such offers...

          1. And we went to the Laboratory Museum twice + to the Show with liquid nitrogen. They saved money, but I would still have written a review anyway, even if I had paid for my own money. Because it's interesting.

            But such proposals do not come so often. More often they ask to describe something that they have never seen. In principle, I don’t undertake this.

            In general, the administrations of various tourist sites often see articles and thank them. But most often - in words! Although, in general, I am writing not with this in mind. It’s just very nice when people sincerely like it and want to do something kind in return.

            Answer

            1. I somehow stay in the shadows more, perhaps that’s why I don’t receive any offers. There are even few commentators left, alas.
              Although somehow I took advantage of my “official” position - in the church in Nikolo-Prozorovo. I asked permission to take a photo for the blog. So they took me around the entire temple, they even went up to the choir.

              Answer

              1. You need to communicate with commentators. That's how you are with me now. 🙂 Then they will be alive and the blog will also be alive. So far I’ve been working on the guidebook for 2 months and haven’t even looked at the blog - everyone has fled for me too. People quickly forget those who do not communicate with them. Especially in this environment, unfortunately.

                On the day before the May holidays, my visits reached 4 thousand. And at the same time there might not be a single comment in a day! Because she didn’t communicate, she left, the author’s absence was noticeable, and she didn’t respond to comments. Probably many were even offended. It’s true, when you write, you waste time, you say smart thoughts 🙂 - and in response there is silence - it’s somehow awkward...

                Answer

                1. I try to write response comments and communicate. Although sometimes, of course, it happens that I don’t see something, I put it off for later and forget. But still, this is rare. In fact, now there are a lot of authors you write to, but they don’t respond. Apparently, the principle works that if the attendance is more than a certain number of people, then you shouldn’t make a return visit, only to friends.

                  Answer

                  1. That’s probably what everyone thought about me while I was working. And there is still a lot of work ahead... There are only 24 hours of time in a day. Where can I get everything?

                    Answer

                    1. Another guide? Well done! Yes, unfortunately there is not enough time for everything. But such publications are very necessary.

                      Yes, you have to strike while the iron is hot. If you refuse once, they will find someone else. And I liked this lesson, although the style is completely different, not mine. No liberties or lyrics. 🙂 But still, I’ve already learned something new. It will be useful in life.

                      Yes, such guides are needed. By the way, you can probably sell it through your blog later, right? There will certainly be demand.

                      Well, maybe put a widget with an offer in the sidebar or in thematic posts? Although, it probably makes sense if they pay you another percentage of sales or give you a large number of copyright copies for independent sale.

                      Percentage on sales will be paid. And there are too few copyright copies—all of them will go straight to friends and relatives. I already have a queue. 🙂

                      Of course, as soon as it comes out of the printing house and starts distributing it, I’ll write a post right away. I have always dreamed of writing something about travel. 🙂

                      I'll be waiting for your post!

    Maybe I’m not entirely on topic, but it seems to me that the percentage of people who fully read this or that article is in most cases small. Mostly superstition. Therefore, I can’t imagine how you can promote a website/blog so that it generates a lot of income. I read about some bloggers on LiveJournal that they invested hundreds of thousands of rubles in promotion. Some managed to become top and get great returns. But some don't.

    Well, that's right. There's nothing to add. I'll share a little of my experience. Adsense rules. The biggest income comes from him. The average salary in your city, I think, is normal. Among affiliate programs, only Booking is more or less profitable. Not every month. But I make withdrawals several times a year.
    Sometimes I do reviews for money. Only those places that I myself have been to and that I like. I remember they offered to review one base in Lago-Naki, and it was so terrible. My husband and I decided that we would not plump up from hunger to fall so low. Moreover, reputation is not an empty word.

    If you bother, you can earn a stable income from a blog with over 4,000 visitors per day. Another thing is that it is now extremely difficult to achieve normal traffic.

      1. And they won’t offer much. And if they do, it will be small and cheap. If the goal is to make money, then you need to offer it yourself, send mailings to potential clients, and actively network. Just making a page with services and prices won’t do any good.
        If you break in, and in general you don’t actively sell yourself for various reasons, then the situation will remain approximately the same.

        Your own product is also good. But again, it needs to be promoted, offered, heavily engaged in PR and invested in. And also forget about modesty.

But, for example, I once made a discovery for myself that from one post, which is not about hotels at all, but about attractions, there are constantly transitions and hotel bookings. I just briefly mentioned in the article that we were staying at such and such a hotel, it was inexpensive, conveniently located, here is the link. And then about the sights. And people regularly look for hotels from this link, but ignore the special selections that I made))))

    Masha, you touched on a sore subject. And she wrote everything down to prove it. Masha, I refused to work with affiliates from the very beginning of blogging. I don’t know why, but on an intuitive level I realized that there would be no point. My husband and I run the site primarily for the soul. Secondly, it seems like we bring benefits to people, first of all, colleagues and not only... We settled on the options of a website-brand and selling our services. We are developing in this direction.
    And you’re absolutely right - we don’t yet know where our blogging paths will take us. Wait and see.

    Masha, hi
    I'll put in my two cents

    When my blog was about everything, my earnings were low. A year and a half ago, I started working on Georgia and decided on the target audience. I have written articles for those who are going on vacation. In the description of each resort, I inserted links to hotels from booking and told which areas are more convenient to live in, etc.

    That is, the blog has in fact turned into an information resource about Georgia. Readers who came to the blog for entertainment have dropped out, there are fewer comments, but I don’t need them to make money.

    At the moment when I started doing this, the attendance dropped and was about 1,400 people per day. After a year of active promotion, traffic is currently 9-10,000 people on weekdays, 85% of traffic goes to articles about Georgia.

    People are quite willing to book housing on Booking by following links from articles with selections of specific housing, so it’s realistic to make money on affiliate programs.

    When there was an airbnb affiliate program, then everything was in chocolate. I spent six months closely promoting them, and since January I have seen absolutely incredible results. It’s a pity that the “chocolate” lasted only three months, because the affiliate program was closed in April.

    As for the travelpayouts widgets, they don’t work for me either. Their tickets and hotels sell for $100 a month at best.

    In your case, it seems to me that the best way is to create an information product about China. Video course or course on planning a holiday in China.

    Abroad, most bloggers make money this way, because their product is their own product.

    Answer

    1. Mila, thank you for your feedback! And congratulations on the excellent results!
      Yes, I’m also betting on China now. But it is unknown how successful he will be: the Far Easterners are at home there, but the average Muscovite or St. Petersburg resident is afraid of him and is more willing to go to Thailand or Bali.
      Although it’s a pity to abandon the Russian direction. But I think, by definition, it is monetized worse: it is easier for people to navigate in their native conditions, there are no problems associated with visas, an unfamiliar language, or other cultural realities. Maybe that’s why there is now such a sad result when working with affiliate programs. Although why the excursions didn’t work, although everyone convinced me otherwise, and I followed all the recommendations, I don’t understand at all.

      Answer

      Mila, one more follow up. I looked at all my posts about Beijing and found those that already had links and affiliate widgets. Now I’ve changed them a little and placed them in a fixed widget in the sidebar. Let's see how they work. Thanks for the kick!

    1. Sasha, thank you for your feedback! Your opinion is important here - you still managed to make progress in working with affiliate programs. If you don’t mind, I’ll take a little look around your site and see how you organized everything. I’m unlikely to compete, since we have completely different directions.
      Now I’m struggling with finances, but if you later teach a course or make a book, I’d be happy to buy it.
      In general, I now have more questions than answers. It seems that there are pages with affiliate programs, there are transitions to them. But there is no return 🙁

      Answer

      1. Masha, having wandered around my site, you are unlikely to see the work that I have been doing lately, actively promoting my articles, with my own articles and the overall weight of my own blog... =) In general, in my School of Bloggers, although there is a three-month marathon to create your own blog from scratch, but knowledge in it and blog settings for a professional are given... =) Maybe later there will be time to do a separate course on monetization... but it’s not about that, it’s about proper SEO - optimization and promotion... without this there’s nowhere... but this I am at my school and teach for three months. =)

        Answer

        1. A course would be great. Personally, it would be easier for me to work this way: purchase a course from you and, perhaps, take some paid lessons from you. I’m too careless for school, what a lot of work it takes to force yourself to do something not when you want, but when you have to :)

          Answer

  1. Masha, hi
    I just took a look at your blog and some thoughts came to mind.

    1. Do you have an article about traveling to Beijing on your own? One general article that would briefly describe the attractions (a couple of sentences about each and one photo) and cover all the organizational issues (in which area to look for housing, how to get around the city, etc.) and all this in one place?

    2. You wrote somewhere here about Kiwitaxi and the fact that they have expensive transfers throughout China. But the person decides for himself whether it is expensive for him or not. You can talk about all the options that exist, mentioning Kiwitaxi as the most worry-free option.

    3. My hotels are mostly booked at resorts (in the mountains or on the sea) or in the capital. Do you have articles about beach resorts? Many people are just going on vacation; they need brief information about which resort to choose and where to live there.

    4. I don’t know about you, but 45% of my visitors come from mobiles and tablets, so they don’t see the sidebar. I'll clean it up soon.

    The conclusion is this: in order to make money on affiliate programs, the blog must have a section that solves people’s problems. That is, a guide that answers practical questions. Maybe you already have all this, I just haven’t found it.

    If the resource serves more of an educational function, then you need to collect a subscriber base and create an information product about China. Steps: collecting a subscriber base, asking subscribers if they are interested in a product about China, and then creating a product. But without a subscriber base there is no point in creating a product.

    Answer

    1. Mila, thanks for the answer!
      1. So far there is no such page specifically for Beijing. There is a page, but it simply contains all the posts on China, organized thematically. There is no such page for Beijing, but I will do it. Right now everything is separate: the metro in Beijing is separate, hotels are separate, and air tickets are separate. I’ll try to make a single post, and from there – links to specific, more detailed posts.

      3. No mention of Chinese beach resorts. There is something about Gelendzhik. But I don’t know if it’s worth getting excited now? And perhaps the Russian direction in general is less monetized by affiliate programs as it is more familiar and close? In other countries, you have to lead by the hand and tell and show everything. There is material about Hainan, I’ll have to write about it.

      4. My share of mobile traffic here now is about 30%. I think if there is a separate page for Beijing, I’ll just put it on the menu.

      You're right, we need information that helps people solve their problems. I probably already have about 70% of the information I need now. There is little left to write. And think about how to promote this page.

      There is also an educational function. When at one time I blocked the text from being copied, there was a friendly chorus of unhappy schoolchildren who were stealing my articles for abstracts :)

      Answer

      1. Oh, these schoolchildren :)

        1. Most of my visitors spend half an hour or an hour on a general article about Georgia, from there they follow the links, but return back to it, because Most frequently asked questions are answered in one place.

        3. I can’t say anything about Russia. Ukraine is definitely not being monetized, but Belarus, for which I didn’t even hope to get any benefit, is producing little results. Probably due to the fact that all our hotels are expensive, and there is no alternative. I haven’t experimented with the Russian direction

        4. As for promotion, everything is standard. The entire Internet should know that with questions about organizing a trip to China, you need to go to your website. This is why one separate comprehensive article is needed, because one article is easier to promote than a column with a hundred posts.

        Promote using other people's resources. Guest posts, links from forums, links from communities on Google+ and facebook about China to this one article. This will be the funnel for people planning a vacation in China (you can have one separate article about Beijing and one general article about a trip to China)

        In my case, this approach worked. It is possible that it will work in your case and will give you decent income on affiliate programs

        There are also two large analogues of airbnb and two sites such as booking and agoda in China. I researched this issue several months ago, but now I can’t find links to those sites. Perhaps you can work directly with Chinese sites if they have affiliate programs.

        Answer

        1. Now I went to the sites for Montenegro and Bulgaria, which were mentioned on the Travelpayouts blog. And it became sad. Yes, excellent sites in terms of earning money, everything is logical. But... it’s kind of sad. Everything is tailored for the tourist who galloped through all these attractions, took a bunch of photos, bought souvenirs and everything... So this eternal paradox arises: whether to write articles for the average tourist, who just clicks on the affiliate program, but for whom all the philosophies, historical entanglements are not needed for nothing, or try to dig deep, enlighten, try to reveal the full depth and greatness of the place. But... Most people don’t need this.
          In any case, I will, of course, write about organizing a trip to China. Moreover, there really isn’t much left to add. And just write further about the sights. Maybe we should really make a normal guide to Beijing.

          Answer

          1. Well, yes, when most people go on vacation, they are only interested in whether the sea water is warm and how to choose a hotel in a good area. Oh, and shopping.

            For example, when we decided that we would fly to Montenegro, I had a couple of hours to prepare for the trip. If a country interests me, I read books about it in advance. There was no particular interest in Montenegro; what was needed was practical information. Where to go, what interesting things there are in that place, how much it costs.

            Or maybe it makes sense for you to write a book then? Or make articles into an e-book and sell it? After all, you write really very interestingly!

            Answer

            1. I'm thinking about writing a book on Beijing. I have scientific articles and books, but this is completely different - a different language, a different visual image.

              In the meantime, I’m writing a post about organizing an independent trip to Beijing. I’m stuck somewhere between visas and money 🙂 I hope I’ll manage it in the foreseeable future. In general, you suggested a great idea - to write such a post. In principle, I have something similar in the “Blog about China”, but there are too many historical and cultural references there, which, really, are not needed by most readers.

              Answer

              1. I remember how tired I was of writing such an article about Georgia, but now I’m glad that I have it. I add and change periodically. The main thing is that there is a basis, and then you can lead the person where you need to go. Plus experiment with affiliate programs on this article.

                And of course, promote it. Find quality links to it (at least a few). Plus put about 100 internal links to it and a link on the main one (I have it in the menu)

                Good luck with writing this post and promoting it!

                Answer

Do you love to travel, write interesting articles and want to share your knowledge with others?
Great! You can still make money from this. Today we will reveal the secrets of monetizing a travel website or blog.

How it works?

Perhaps most people have very vague ideas about how it is possible
earn money with the help of an information site or blog, and even for tourism
subject. In fact, everything is quite simple and transparent, you only need a little
go deeper into the topic. Let's look at income options using an example.

How does the site make money?

The travel portal brought the client to the partner site and will receive its income from the transaction. In this
In this case, monetization is carried out using the CPA system. This means that the site’s income comes from specific consumers who made a purchase: booked
air tickets, hotel or used the services of an insurance company, etc.. The fact is that
the buyer came through your website is recorded with a special marker, and you
you receive your percentage of the profit of your partner (air carrier, hotel booking service, etc.).

We create our own business

Before creating a website or blog, you should start by studying the topic while answering
next questions:

What to write about?

First of all, about what you do well and bring pleasure, because you are not
want to turn work into a daily routine? Another guideline is the benefit to the reader.
You shouldn’t write about everything in the world, otherwise you won’t be able to clearly identify your target audience, which
ready to pay. Choose a topic that is relevant and close to you. Think about what a potential traveler might be interested in:

  • How to buy tickets profitably?
  • Where to stay?
  • Which restaurant serves delicious food?
  • How much do excursions cost? etc.

Start the title with the words “How...”, “Where...” and the user will understand that the article has a solution to the question that worries him.

Writing style?

Write as if for yourself! After all, when you go to a website, you expect to receive what you need.
information in the most convenient and beautiful form. The texts should be “tasty”
the headlines are intriguing and succinct. For example, for an affiliate site the following option is suitable:
“Flight Moscow-Hurghada from $100”, and for the blog: “Where to have lunch in Rome for 20 euros.”
Remember about the pictures, they also add attractiveness, but take care that
so that when you click, they will increase. Do everything for the user's convenience. If you are writing about
interesting places, for example: Montmartre (Paris), then don’t be lazy to make a detailed map.

Who is your target audience?

In order for a site to generate income, users must be willing to commit
purchase. That is why portals about sights and history bring extremely
little income, because the target audience comes there for something else.

Form of expression?

There can be several forms of expression - a blog, a portal or an affiliate site. The most
popular destinations in the travel segment, this is a portal about profitable air travel,
promotional offers from hotels, last minute tours. I would be happy to receive such information
search engines provide. Relevant and useful information about the chosen direction,
for example, what are the prices in supermarkets, how much money to borrow for the week, etc.

  • A travel blog is a great option if you are a charismatic person and
    users are interested in your experience. You can find a loyal
    audience, write in a convenient form and weave in product placement (hidden advertising)
    inside the articles. However, the target audience that comes to your site is not
    in the mood for shopping. Yes, and traffic from search networks is minimal, conversion too
    not tall. But we want the income to be regular and tangible! Then look at the next option. Main means of monetization: product placement
  • A travel website, a portal - here the focus of your attention can be directed to
    one or more directions. Let's say you can write about a vacation in Europe or
    about life in America. The topics covered are quite large: transport, food,
    attractions, entertainment, etc. If you optimize SEO, then you can
    attract traffic from search networks, but be prepared for the constant
    you will have practically no audience, and user activity is low. Monetization means: affiliate programs, contextual advertising.

Which platform to choose?

What is the starting budget?

Remember that to start you need cash injections, focus on the initial
budget - from $100 if you work independently. First of all you need to pay
domain. Here, it is certainly not recommended to save money, because the free option will not bring
you will receive traffic, which means the efficiency will be quite low.

What are the priority tasks?

Find a tracking intermediary, for example Admitad, which will allow you to earn income from affiliate resources. But first, fill the site with quality content, not bad
start - from 40 articles. Remember the links. If the article contains a link directly to an affiliate site, then this will bring you income. Get involved in increasing your traffic. There are few regulars on information portals
users, but you can create a mailing list. Register for
those who want to leave comments and receive contact information for your target audience.

Features of types of monetization.

Contextual advertising. A great way to get a good income in a short time. But not
It is recommended to install it if you have less than 2000 views per day, in which case it will provoke a slow increase in traffic. Partnership programs. You can weave them into the text while writing articles, but don't count on quick income as it often coincides with tourist seasons.

Another point is deferred income. Users often purchase tours or
air tickets several months in advance and statistics from partners are not the fastest.
Mobile version. Now mobile traffic is constantly growing. Actually, this is a transition to
website completed using a smartphone. Such offers can bring significant
profit. However, it is best to separate desktop and mobile traffic.
As you can see, anyone can start making money from tourism content. What is needed for this? Great desire, time, small start-up capital and the right choice of an affiliate network.

Any novice blogger who begins a story about their travels is interested in the question: how to promote a travel blog? In this article I will share my experience and talk about mistakes. My tips are more suitable for beginners who have just created and started promoting a blog, so I will tell you about free methods - they are most suitable for beginners.

1. Content. First of all, to get promoted, you need to write interesting, useful, SEO-optimized articles. My best promotion is for long-form articles of 6-8 thousand characters, tailored to several low-frequency queries. In general, low-frequency queries are a thing. The lower frequency it is, the better. Beginners should not neglect even those requests for which 3-6 people come. It is they who can initially bring visitors to you from search engines - with Google, for sure, it is more loyal to young sites. You need to search for low-frequency queries in the Wordstat service. If you are interested in creating your own website, you have probably heard about it.

A lengthy article allows you to include several low-frequency speakers, so you have a chance to appear in search engines. At the same time, voluminous articles that provide answers to all questions will be more popular among users. Therefore, if you are thinking of writing articles in the style of we were there and there and posting photos - I dare to disappoint you - no one is interested in this. Any description of a tourist site is incomplete without such standard keys as “get there on your own”, “prices”, “tickets”. Even if you were taken on a tour bus, and you don’t know how to go there or what it costs, you’ll have to study it. Reading competitors' articles, even stealing a little material from them - there is no escape from this. Just don’t forget to check the article for Anti-plagiarism later in some service.

It’s better, of course, if your article really contains unique information – something that no one has written about before. Yandex has recently been very focused on content and will definitely appreciate truly new information, if it is properly optimized.

2. Regularity. A beginner needs to constantly do something with his blog, otherwise he will never achieve the favor of search engines. Write new articles, edit old ones. If you don’t know what to write, work on the functionality of the blog: improve some little thing in the template, make content in some articles, especially long ones, add photos - this way you show search engines that the blog is “live” and this allows you to rise in search results.

Honestly, this method should not be neglected not only by beginners.

3. Links. Although Yandex stated that links are no longer of decisive importance, there is no escape from them for now. In addition to ranking in search engines, they can bring first-time visitors to newbies. Despite the negative reviews from venerable travel bloggers about this method, the question and answer service Answer worked best for me at the initial stage. Mail.ru. Not only did an indexed link appear there, the first visitors began to come to me. Moreover, questions and answers from the service are displayed at the request of search engines and later, so visitors will continue to come in the following days. Of course, you won’t bring many people to the site this way, but if you’re just starting your journey, it’s a very good method.

The only downside is that you need to be a little careful. For example, to celebrate, I began to put links on this service left and right, and after about a week of my hectic activity, the administration of the service blocked all my links without the right to restore. So all my work was in vain. True, the article still rose well in the search results.

Another service is Answer.Expert. I sometimes put links there - now very carefully. No live transitions were noticed from it, but to give weight to the article, it will do.

4. Guest Blogging. It works well to go to bloggers in your field, leave comments and put links on them. Just put it in a special box “your site”, and not in the text of the comment itself - no one likes spammers - remember! They can come back to you for a return visit and also write something - this improves behavioral factors.

If your linked blog is really interesting, the blogger you visited may offer you some sort of deal. You write an article, which you give to a “more experienced” blogger, who posts it on the site in exchange for a link to your resource. I can also offer you this method of promotion. That is, you give me an article, and I will give you a link). You can see how to contact me in the ““ section.

5. Announcements on social networks. I read from one of the venerable bloggers about the service Sabskreibe– Now I periodically leave announcements there. What can I say? I didn’t notice any transitions from it. But in general, if I really want to promote an article to the top, I use a set of methods:
link in the question and answer service;
comment with a link from colleagues;
announcement in Sabskreibe.

Taken together, this works well.

6. Social network. I left it for last, because today it is a very powerful, but, unfortunately, little used method of promotion by me. If you have mastered social networks, you have mastered the world. Just kidding, but in every joke... A well-promoted group on social networks is a truly powerful weapon that allows you to attract visitors to your website and form a core of regular readers. Another thing is that to promote a group you need to put in no less effort than to promote a website. You need to break into people’s accounts, inviting them to join your group, communicate, and create interesting announcements. Search engines are very actively looking at the behavior of social networks.

Another method of activity can be suggested. By the way, I’m not even talking about installing social media buttons at the bottom of the article and liking each article with them - every beginner should do this. At least let your friends come to you at first and create the appearance of attendance.

I'll tell you about another method - other people's groups. Advertising in social groups is usually paid, but not always. Some admins just want interesting content. You can be mutually beneficial to each other. Find a group that promotes tourism services: tourist base, destination, kindergarten abroad. Invite them to write about them - and post the announcement in their group. You will have interesting content and free advertising of your resource. They will definitely promote an article with information about themselves. Once you become friends, you can post other posts in their group.
